ME 318 "WALL OF FAME" LOGO
When I was a student in ME 318: Computer Aided Product Design, the class size was much smaller than it is now. With only about 25% of the applicants being able to gain a spot in the class, it was considered somewhat a privilege to be there. A testament to how proud and united we were as a group was a wall filled personal logos of all the students who had ever taken the class. The logo, which was to be machined out of sign stock, was our first assignment for the class. It was our first time programming in G-code (no CAM was allowed for this assignment) and first time running the CNC mill. As you can expect, it was all very exciting.
My logo was an owl drinking bubble tea. Because the logo had to be programmed manually line by line, we could only design logo using straight lines and circular arcs. I was super pleased at how this one turned out. To this day, I still think it perfectly captured my essence: a nocturnal creature who lights up at the sight of bubble tea.
STUDENT COIN EXCHANGE
In a short assignment for my computer aided design class, we were challenged to make 20 identical two-sided coins to exchange with other students in a week.
This was a challenging assignment because none of us had any experience machining metals nor performing a part flip at the time. It also required from us some deep reflection on what fundamentally matters and how we would like to be remembered.
Mine reads "Do good with who you are."
DECORATIVE BOTTLE OPENER
Small enough to be carried around in keychain as a decorative object, this dual bottle opener works with both-twist off and pry-off bottle caps.
This was my first experience machining stainless steel. I was super grateful I didn't break any end mill in the process
