Yiruma's "Kiss The Rain".

The World of Color fountain at Disneyland is one of my favorite places to be. There is something magical about synchronously matching the music and the ambient color of the space one inhabits.

I was given 15 hours to machine any project of my own choosing for a course on computer aided design at Stanford and decided to do just that: making a light that dances with music.

The industrial design of this lamp was inspired by nature's greatest dancing light - the Aurora Borealis. As the aurora is formless, I captured its essence as a light curtain and modeled my lamp as such.

Below you can find a video of the prototype "dancing" to one of my favorite songs of all time - Kiss the Rain by the South Korean composer Yiruma.

Materials: Polypropylene, brass, aluminum
